It’s tax time! Employees want to know: how do I document workplace giving charitable donations for my taxes?
For payroll donations, the IRS wants you to have two things:
- A copy of your pledge
- A copy of your last paystub of the year or a W-2
If you donated through the King County Employee Giving Program, here’s the scoop on just how easy it is to retrieve this documentation for tax purposes.
For King County Employees:
Payroll or Time Donation
- Log into Peoplesoft (www.kingcounty.gov/mybenefits)
- Copy of Pledge: From employee self-service menu: Click on the “Employee Giving” tile –> Click “View” for 2022 Calendar Year (Print this page)
- Copy of Last Pay Stub of the Year: From employee self-service menu: Click on the “Payroll” tile –> View PDF Pay Advice –> Click on “Get Advice PDF” for the last paycheck issue date of 2022 (Print this page)
If you made a time donation, then ensure you also keep the letter that was mailed to your home from the King County Employee Giving Program that states your donated dollar amount of time donated. For tax purposes they are considered a payroll donation.
