This year we have all seen the devastation caused by wildfires in our greater region. Below are several highlighted nonprofits that are a part of the King County Employee Giving Program providing real time relief to those impacted. American Red Cross – 9343
As the string of 2020 wildfires continues, the American Red Cross is on the ground in Colorado where fires have forced people from their homes, burning thousands of acres and destroying homes. Learn more here.
Americares – 3540
Americares has committed $2.5 million in aid for the wildfires raging throughout the western United States, including California. Americares support will include critically needed medicine and relief supplies valued at $2 million plus at least $500,000 in financial support for families and health care centers in affected areas. Direct Relief – 2843
As a California-based nonprofit disaster relief and medical assistance organization, Direct Relief has decades of experience responding to wildfires and other emergencies in both its home state and throughout the U.S. In response to Colorado’s fires, Direct Relief is reaching out to organizations in Northern Colorado and sent an alert to partner health facilities this week to offer medical support. The Salvation Army – 9377
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services has been activated in Ashland, Phoenix, Talent, Medford, Linn County, Roseburg, and Lincoln County to respond to the Oregon Wildfires. Learn more about donating and volunteering here.
Save the Children – 3534
Save the Children’s emergency response team and local program staff in California and Washington mobilized early to help meet the most urgent needs of children living in some of the areas hardest hit by the ongoing wildfires. Their emergency response teams have delivered emergency relief supplies to children and families in Central Valley, California, and southern Washington – including 30,000 KN95 masks to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, as well as air purifying fans to improve the air quality in their homes.
