Neighbor to Nation member charities respond to Nepal Earthquake

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has hit near the capital city of Kathmandu, Nepal, leaving thousands of homes and buildings destroyed. The death toll continues to rise, and many more families have been displaced. Neighbor To Nation’s charities are on the ground responding to the disaster.

Blessings International

Blessings International is responding to the disaster in Nepal by providing free medicines to earthquake victims.  Within a day of the earthquake in Nepal, Blessings received requests for emergency medical assistance from teams previously scheduled to travel to Nepal who wanted even more medicines to meet the needs of the current disaster.  Blessings is now receiving many requests for emergency medicines to help survivors in Nepal.  You can support Blessings efforts to provide free medicine by donating to our Emergency Disaster Relief Fund through our website or by texting MEDS to 41444.

Christian Blind Mission

CBM’s Chief Financial Officer in Nepal, Mitralal Shrestha, was with his family when the earthquake struck. He told us: “A seven-story building near my house had collapsed. More than 25 families were staying there. It was totally destroyed.” Sadly, in a disaster this devastating, people with disabilities are affected the most. Hospitals and emergency shelters are overwhelmed and unable to offer special accommodations. Aide devices for the blind, deaf, or those with physical disabilities, may be severely damaged or inoperable. Most urgently, support networks to deliver food, water, shelter and medical care may be completely severed. CBM has worked for decades in Nepal with partner organizations dedicated to serving families and children with disabilities. Your tax-deductible donation will help us deliver humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable with a focus on rebuilding communities with special needs.
