#35 Better Together
We promised to share 35 reasons to give during the 35th Anniversary of the Employee Giving Program’s (EGP) Annual Giving Drive. Throughout the drive, we shared stories of a variety of organizations that support a range of causes, from education and literacy to mental health and disability services. We have witnessed the power of King County employees coming together to support their favorite nonprofits. It’s amazing to see the positive impact we can have by working – and giving – together. It’s clear that reason 35 to participate in the Annual Giving Drive is to join the collective power of giving.
“I join the EGP program to help assist the county in helping the community. By getting our staff involved and because I believe in giving everyone a helping hand.”
Allan Borgen, Roads Maintenance Section of Department of Local Services
“The EGP is important to me because through this program I can contribute to nonprofit organizations that help overburdened communities. Contributing gives me satisfaction that I did something outside of my normal work to help others. I have worked in nonprofit organizations in the past, and I have seen firsthand how they help our community.”
Smita Kumari, Renton Communications Center at King County Sheriff’s Office
We have raised nearly $2 million, have made over 300 new connections, and over 1,500 employees have participated. This showcases how powerful the Employee Giving Program is and how much of an impact we can make together. The Employee Giving Program helps King County employees support a multitude of causes that enrich our communities and provide opportunities for all people to thrive. Let’s continue working together for a better tomorrow. Together, we make a difference.
Not only have we supported numerous causes throughout the drive, but we have also had a lot of fun. We were able to host nonprofit expos for the first time in three years, and Ambassadors have held more than 45 special events, which gave hundreds of employees the opportunity to learn about the impactful programs and services provided in our community. The expos are meaningful events for employees and for nonprofits as well. “Being part of the King County Employee Giving Program expo helps us build community not only with King County employees but also among other nonprofits,” said Joanne Yu from Friends of Youth.
