A message from Councilmember Sarah Perry and Megan Clarke, King County Chief Information Officer, 2023 Annual Giving Drive Honorary Co-Chairs.

Dear fellow King County employee, 

We are delighted to announce that our Employee Giving Program (EGP) is celebrating its 35th Anniversary! Over the past three-and-a-half decades, we have made a huge impact on our community through generous donations.  

What does this mean for our community? It means we are reducing barriers to behavioral healthcare access. It means we are preserving and repairing the environment. It means that more kids have access to STEM education and activities, and so much more.  

Today, we offer even more ways to give! Did you know that eligible employees may use up to three instances of sick leave per calendar year to volunteer at an EGP nonprofit or local school? For example, volunteer rates in many areas have not fully recovered since the pandemic and many local food banks need volunteers to increase food distribution across the region.  

As we celebrate 35 years, we invite you to take action on behalf of a cause that is important to you. This year we are going to work hard to beat last year’s numbers for this great cause so everyone can benefit even more! What does that mean? Well, last year we raised $2.35 million! This year, we have a goal of reaching $2.55 million and 600 new connections. With so many opportunities to give and nearly 1,300 nonprofit organizations active in the Employee Giving Program, you can help us reach that goal by giving to what you care about most!   

From now through November 17, go online or use a paper form to pledge to your favorite Employee Giving Program nonprofits by: 

• Payroll Donation: Choose one time, once per month or twice per month. 
• Time Donation: Eligible vacation or comp time. See your department’s lead ambassador for details. 
• Check: Made out directly to a nonprofit with a paper form. 
• Sick Leave for Volunteer Service: Year-round eligible employees may use up to three sick days per calendar year to volunteer at an EGP nonprofit or local school. 
• Credit Card: Support your coworkers at special events!
